"The idea was just to make some music. But when I started making this music I realised just how diverse my influences were. Being able to play quite a few different instruments and able to write music from the basis of the scope of individual instruments enabled the sonic extremities of different tracks. This could also be viewed as disadvantage as the album has been described as being too varied. What really surprised me was the strength of my past reggae influence, the music I was brought up on. Classical music which I studied as a youth shows it influence especially in my piano playing, as swell as salsa and African grooves which I have been playing for some time in different groups. With the jazz influence, being the music I have played for many years and my love for weird electronic sounds, I was beginning to feel that I was creating something rather interesting and different and for me very special. 'Resoluting' is like a journey which takes you on many different musical places, styles and sounds until you reach the pivotal track Resoluting. A track which resolves from dub reggae to funky Techno with rock and madness".

Ikeola .....the concept

The album 'Resoluting' is not really constructed with a particular concept in mind, rather more a collection of ideas sounds and simple melodies that are designed to appeal, stimulate and question our thoughts and preconceptions about certain types of music. Subconsciously there is a unifying thread provided by a hypnotic dubby groove throughout the album via compositions
1) Resurrecting, 5) Resuming,
9) Resolving and finally
13) Resoluting where the groove mutates from dub reggae to Techno. The changing mood progresses from laid back loopy atmospheres like 2) Its the Bomb to almost 'drum and bass dub, of
3) Don't Rush Me
. Latin salsa elements are evident in
7) Climbing Up
, whilst
10) Jump Up pays tribute to the influence of the music of Africa. Throughout the album the spirit of Electronica is manifested in varying levels of indulgence like 4) Intention or 6) Creepin Inn, but is taken to different levels in 12) Skippy. Floating soprano sax sounds and loops against heavy grooves as in 11) Slow Tronic carefully blend light and shade to astonishing effect. The highlight of Resoluting has to be 8) Never Hurry where Jazz improvisation and electronic ambience create something special. The album concludes with a beautiful piano offering dedicated to a very special person from whom the title
14) Clea is derived
